I have a temperature. Should I see the doctor?
That depends. In most cases, a temperature under 100°F is nothing to worry about; but if you’ve had a low-grade temperature for some time, it could be a sign that there’s an infection going on somewhere in your body, and seeing your doctor could help diagnose an underlying condition that could become worse over time. When your temperature is above 100°F, it’s a good idea to schedule an appointment so your doctor can determine if you need special care and to rule out conditions like strep throat or pneumonia.
What are other signs that could indicate I need to see the doctor?
There are numerous signs and symptoms that indicate you should see a doctor, including prolonged periods of vomiting or diarrhea that could cause you to become dehydrated; blood in your bowel movement; severe abdominal pain; intense headaches; blurred vision, garbled speech or other signs of brain or neurological injury; pain or numbness in a limb; and greenish discharge from your nose that could indicate sinusitis. These are some of the most common signs and symptoms to watch out for, but there are many more and this is in no way a complete list. If you’re experiencing unusual symptoms, call our office today.
